Agenda 1.4

TestFest Fall 2023

The iXorg in-person TestFest returned to Las Vegas at the Plaza in November 2023.  Members setup a complete infrastructure network consisting of servers, network drives, PCs, etc. in order to install and test various software including virtual servers, remote VPNs, anti-virus products, diagnostic tools, and more.  This is the 29th TestFest as the scope of the membership expands into other current operating systems and offerings, and not just the Unix roots.  For more information about iXorg email This email address is being protected from spambots. TestFest Fall 2023 Agenda

TestFest Conferences

Member education and business networking are prime objectives of iXorg. Towards this goal, iXorg has organized a series of technical conferences emphasizing hands-on testing and evaluation of current hardware and software technologies. Recently the “TestFest” conferences have been held during the fall in downtown Las Vegas. iXorg negotiates room rates, conference facilities and food service with the hotel.

The upcoming iXorg TestFest Fall 2023 will be our 32nd TestFest Technical Conference and will be held in person in Las Vegas and Virtually.

The conference fee is designed to cover part of the cost of the food and beverage and other services, such as audio/visual and Internet access. The rest is made up from vendor contributions and iXorg dues. This structure has allowed iXorg to provide highly effective five day conferences to its members for about $250 per attendee.

Course material and delivery.

In contrast to most vendor sales presentations and certification classes, TestFest course material is focused on the practical issues involved in providing customers with multi-vendor hardware and software solutions. Whenever possible, TestFest provides hands-on practice in configuration, deployment, and testing. Our intent is to provide attendees with specific best practices and experience that reduces the risk in selling new products and technologies.

The material is covered by a combination of presentation, instructor lead labs and individual hands-on practice, led by iXorg members and supporting vendors. Attendees are expected to adapt the material presented to their specific objectives, learning curve and customer base. The course is run in a format to allow attendees to learn the material most relevant to their interests without the pressure to complete a full curriculum.

Conference Style.

iXorg TestFests are informal in dress and style. The conference is set up with Internet access and cellular coverage and structured to provide the opportunity for attendees to respond to customer calls and emails. We work hard, but have fun, too. We feel the collegial tone and substance to be superior to most technical and business events and we enjoy our evolving community.

Our goal is affordable, focused, multi-vendor, hands-on learning.
